The BIC are members of an European Business Network which was set up more than 15 years ago to encourage the promotion of innovation throughout Europe. There are currently more than 150 member organisations including 12 in the UK.
The network meets on a regular basis to exchange best business practice and useful tools to support businesses on the theme of innovation.
Having submitted a paper to the network a few months ago, Sandra Butterworth the BIC�s Business Manager, was invited to Vienna to present to over 80 delegates at a two-day �sharing of best practice� seminar the BIC�s Self Assessment Analysis Questionnaire on Innovation.
The questionnaire is designed to assess a company�s current strengths and weaknesses on innovation in certain areas of business practice with a view to finding the right support to improve their level of innovation.
The presentation was well received and the questionnaire recognised as a good, practical tool to help businesses in their everyday lives. As a result a number of other Innovation Centres in Europe from such countries as Greece, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and Finland expressed the desire to replicate the questionnaire in their own regions.
Over a hundred companies in Staffordshire have already undertaken the self assessment where they gained a valuable insight into the world of innovation, learnt a number of useful techniques and recognised the importance of creating a culture of innovation so essential in today�s competitive world.
